“Artificial intelligence will entertain us” is a speculative publication that seeks to serve as an example of content being created by artificial intelligence, using franchise comic books as an example.
It is safe to say that when content creation will start becoming automated children’s content will be first in line. In fact, content aimed towards children is already occasionally being generated by artificial intelligence. YouTube is filled with videos entirely made up with stock animations, stock audio and titled with words known to be popular within the algorithm. They are created by the hundreds and consumed by an enormous audience.
These videos are the start of automated entertainment, and this publication is a speculative example of the comic book equivalent. All of the pages and covers were created using the Midjourney Beta, an image generating artificial intelligence that creates images based on a text prompt given to it by the user. I fed it prompts that I thought a company like Disney would, if it wanted it to create comics. The result is a few pages of The Smurfs, a few pages of Lucky Luke, and a few pages of Donald Duck, as well as a front and back cover.
Below you can find pictures of the printed publication as well as an overview of the covers and spreads.
